Woven Cloth To Tensegrity Mutation

In 1960 while trying to develop an extendable planar structure I discovered a tension and compression form similar to woven fabric. It is composed of struts that follow a zigzag course, the rigid parts held firmly in place by tension wires. This animation shows the transformation of the woven cloth into a steel structure and back again. animation by Ken Snelson and Jon Monaghan music by Ryoji Ikeda
